Accredited Investor Definition

An accredited investor is generally defined under SEC Rule 501(a) of Regulation D as a natural person whose individual net worth, or joint net worth with that person's spouse, exceeds $1,000,000, excluding the value of the primary residence; OR a natural person with income exceeding $200,000 in each of the two most recent years (or $300,000 jointly with a spouse) and a reasonable expectation of reaching the same income level in the current year; OR a person holding in good standing certain professional certifications, designations, or credentials recognized by the SEC; OR an entity that meets the criteria specified in Rule 501(a).
